An interactive narrative in UNITY
Story of an 8-yr old girl, Jane, who discovers a portal through space and time & accidentally teleports to Fairbanks, a ring-shaped area around the North Pole, to view the magical Northern lights.
Orientation
Once upon a time, there was a bubbly 8-yr. old girl, Jane whose father, Philip, meant the world to her.
Every day, they dreamt of going to the north pole to see the northern lights and go to the stars. They dreamt of underwater sea-diving to touch the coral reefs and the star-fish.
Crisis
But, life had other plans. One day, Philip died in an accident, leaving Jane in despair.
Escalation
Because of that, Jane was forced to move to Giverny, a small village in France to live with her aunt, Ellisa, who was not happy with having to take Jane’s responsibility,
Ellisa was always mean to Jane and gradually Jane became extremely quiet and reserved. She avoided talking to anyone, stayed away from everyone at school.
One day, on her way to school, Jane came across an aquarium. She decided to skip school and spend time watching the dreamy sea creatures.
Because of that, she got a harsh scolding from her aunt. Ellisa locker her in the attic as punishment. Jane saw an old cabinet in the far corner of the room. She went towards it and burst into tears remembering her dad.
Discovery
She cries and says, ’Daddy, come back, you promised you’ll always be there for me. Tomorrow is my birthday, you promised to take me to see the auroras, come back.’
Suddenly, a magical light surrounds her and she finds herself in an unknown place.
She looks around, baffled and scared, to see no one. All she can see is mountains, river and trees. She suddenly looks up into the sky to see the magical lights, the northern lights. She sits there and remembers her dad,
Change
After a while, Jane finds herself back in the cabinet. She reminisces her moments gazing at the northern lights and finds her lost zeal to live back again, with the secret of the teleporting cabinet safe in her heart. She often teleports to the places she wanted to visit with her dad through the cabinet.
The experience
The experience starts at the yellow flash of light, as seen in the picture, and as the user moves forward the story is revealed as a linear narrative, leading to the northern lights.
