Ideas of Potential Interventions

All the installations would be self-explanatory. We would not be verbally interacting with the users for any of the below installations.

The ideas focus on depicting Times Square in a comparative scenario: crowded vs calm. 2 scenarios as delineated below:

Idea 1: Crowded vs uncrowded sticker ranking:

  • We would have 2 boards depicting the 2 scenarios of Times square when it is crowded and uncrowded.

  • Users will have the option to choose either of the scenarios and vote by pasting a sticker on either of the boards.

Idea 2: Crowded vs uncrowded picture frame preference-

  • This will be like a photo booth or a selfie station. We would be preparing 2 different categories of props .

  • The first category would have very vibrant and colorful props whereas the other would have simple props.

  • We would keep the restriction of the users choosing props from only one category, which would be mentioned on the boxes in which we place the props.

Idea 3: Crowded vs uncrowded postcard pickup

  • We would have 2 boards which with postcards portraying crowded and uncrowded Times Square respectively. Users would be free to choose any one postcard for themselves.

After deliberating again, we decided on combining the first and the third ideas.

We would have 2 boards with sketches depicting crowded and uncrowded Times square, Users would be able to vote for either using stickers.

To add an incentive to vote, we would give away postcards depicting the scenario the user votes for.

A draft of the sketches which would be used for the background of the standee and the postcard:
